What makes a base quotable
The functional faces Say which surfaces carry rails, spindles or a table, and what tolerance each one needs. A base with four machined pads and one with a fully machined top are different jobs.
A datum scheme Flatness on its own is not enough. Parallelism and squareness need a datum to be measured against, and without one every shop picks a different reference.
Real quantity One unit or twenty changes the recommended construction, not just the unit price. An honest number beats an optimistic one.
Stress relief expectation Furnace or vibratory, and whether you want the chart. This is the item most often left out and most often argued about later.
Where it has to land Destination port or door. A three-tonne structure is oversize cargo and the freight is a real part of the landed cost. Drawing not ready? Send the envelope, the approximate weight, the machine it carries and the accuracy you are chasing. That is enough for a budget number and for an opinion on the construction.
